Here is an awesome labour of love! Bulgarian artist Plamen Ignatov used 6 million matches and spent the past 16 years to create this impressive miniature model of the Rila Monastery. Made of wood, matches and gems, the model is now on display at the National Archaeological Museum in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Rila Monastery is the largest and most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria. It is regarded as one of Bulgaria’s most important cultural, historical, and architectural monuments and is a key tourist attraction for both Bulgaria and Southern Europe. It has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

This insanely luxurious house in Dakar (Senegal) has an infinity pool on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic (I like the weird cutout in the roof of the overhang) and a wonderful spiral staircase:

Much of the rest of the house is quite…stark, however:

As one commenter notes, “It would be like living in a hotel lobby.”
The pool area is definitely the highlight!  See more here.
